About the Artist
I, Emily Cavasar, am an artist...and I do alot of other things too. Some of my friends would label me as a "Jack of all trades" but I just call myself an artist, etc. I paint, act, sing, dance, design, work as a wardrobe assistant, substitute teach and sew. More than anything, I want to create art for others.
I was born in Houston and not really raised in any particular town because I was an "Army brat." As a young child I was always drawn to the arts and was known as the creative one in the family. I took that love for the arts and journeyed to Abilene Christian University where I received a BFA in Theatre with a focus in technical theatre design and acting. While in college, I designed costumes, make-up and props for several productions including Still Life With Iris, After Darwin and Treasure Island. I am currently in my fourth season as a Wardrobe Assistant for Ballet Austin and I substitute teach in the Austin area. My summers are generally spent painting murals with artist George Bevill in the Katy and Fort Bend School Districts. Mr. Bevill has taught me everything I know about designing and painting murals and now I have decided to branch out with my own business in Austin.
